A recent client noticed that she was being resistant to receiving. This is a very common situation for most people, and can be particularly powerful in women. Actually, the only limits we have are those which we create... but then, thats the reason for the journey!
There is some interesting research that Wayne Dyer references in his new movie "The Shift" (highly recommended)... it talks about how people "shift" their focus from ambition to meaning. Men and women tend to have different foci before and after. For women, the most popular focus before is others, and after is themselves.
Women are taught by this culture to sacrifice(deny) themselves for others. Its only after they begin to open up and grow that they can allow themselves to focus on what they need.
It completely makes sense that you are noticing a resistance to receiving. Your ego believes that receiving is "greedy"... it also "knows" that the more you receive, the less you need it (the ego)!
I would suggest to you that the highest purpose ANY of us have is service to others. However, we can not serve others if we are not full. We can't give if we can't receive.
Perhaps you should set aside some time each day (10-20 minutes) that you only devote to yourself: turn off the phone and watch a funny sitcom on tv/computer, take a warm bath, get a massage, go for a gentle walk, have a piece of high quality chocolate, read a fun book, etc. Give yourself a healthy treat each day, and focus on how you are deserving and worthy of these luxuries. Keep it simple, but consider it part of your "work" on yourself... fun work.
Also, now that you are aware of this issue, the Divine will be sending you opportunities to reprogram yourself. So keep your eyes open for gifts and positive energy coming from others. From someone letting you merge in front of them on the road to a friend popping by with a bottle of wine - you are constantly surrounded by gifts.
Consider that as you become more open to receiving, then the Divine will be able to give you more! In fact, there is already infinitely more waiting for you that you could ever use...
Only you can inhibit the flow - its the price of free will. The joy is in rediscovering that flow and experiencing the increase of Divine energy in your life. In fact, thats really the reason you allowed it to be limited in the first place.
